" If you don't have a life outside the studio, what experience is it that you are bringing into it? "
" The family of architecture is so much more than working in a practice or teaching in a school. Our work is by its very nature holistic and integrated. As such, it's of great benefit for us to engage outside the routine; not only to bring our values to others but to learn and bring real life into what we do as practitioners and teachers. This is why I have engaged in voluntary work with the National Trust and Huddersfield's Artists in Mind. "
" I have supported the profession as chair of the Huddersfield, Bradford and Calderdale Branch focusing on channelling funds to local architecture students. We have run film shows and built pavilions in the park. I run workshops in schools and authored the online mathematics KS3 teaching materials for the RIBA. I mentor students engaging in their stage 1 and stage 2 experience in practice. I am an activist for inclusion across all of areas of our interest and regularly sit on discussion panels in London, Manchester and across the country. "
" My proudest achievement is organising and hosting a 'Women in Architecture' Northern Symposium with key note speaker Jane Duncan OBE who was RIBA president at the time. To continue this work I am currently standing (with great support from my colleagues) for RIBA National Council to act on behalf of practitioners, educationalists and students. "
